Hello, explorers! Today’s blog is about finding a pure vegetarian restaurant in Puri along with a heart-ripping incident with a happy ending. Let’s walk through my personal journey to explore the best veg restaurant in Puri.
So, the story begins…We reached the hotel in the afternoon and had our lunch in the Yellow Hotel’s restaurant itself.
I won’t review their restaurant because I didn't find anything to let you know about.
The food quality and quantity were average, and the service was slow..
The other day, after seeking blessings from Lord Jagannath, we called the driver to visit other places in Puri. After visiting the places, we reached our hotel and had Lord Jagannath’s “Maha Prasad” and at night 9 p.m., we went outside hunting for the best pure veg restaurant in Puri.
Hotel Shri Hari Grand—The Best Pure Veg Restaurant in Puri
We went to 4-5 vegetarian restaurants near Jagannath temple puri and found the "one,” which had something to let you know.
We saw “Hotel Shri Hari Grand,” our saviour. We asked for 6 chairs, and the staff greeted us very politely and gently. We sat on the table, and the menu had enough veg varieties.
I was excited and thinking “Should I order this, that, or everything?” Actually, we were badly craving for a good food. Let’s now have a little overview of the ambiance.
Ambiance
The ambiance was simple, clean, and fresh, with comfy chairs. It was air-conditioned. Also, the atmosphere was peaceful, with light music to create a vibrant environment.
Food
The quality, quantity, and price were perfect, with amazing taste. Also, the restaurant does not offer garlic and onion dishes; they offer satvik food with great taste.
As we were craving for "home-made food," we ordered Aloo parwal ki sabzi, Dal tadka, Roti, Aloo ka bhujiya, and jeera rice. Every food item gave us a feeling of ghar ka khana (home-made food). Excluding the aloo bhujiya because it had tomato in it, which did not taste well.
Staff and Service
Hotel Shri Hari Grand’s staffs were well-versed in helping us choose the food item, as well as their specialties, and their polite nature were worth it to dine-in. The service was fine and foods were served on time. Overall, the service and staff behaviour were good.
Interesting Fact:-
At lunchtime, the restaurant also offers “Maha Prasad” to tourists who are willing to have it. I can’t say much about the pricing of Maha Prasad because I went there at night. They also have luxury rooms with fair pricing and multiple facilities to reap.
Price
Rs. 200-500/person
Address: MARCHIKOT SQUARE BEFORE AGRAWAL’S PURE VEG, Basanta Rd., Puri, Odisha 752001
A few distances from Lord Jagannath’s temple, towards the right side.
Not-to-Try Pure Veg Restaurant in Puri
I would warn you not to try “The Grand Hotel.” As per my experience, when I came out after worshipping Lord Jagannath, I found this hotel’s outside view tempting and amazing. So, I decided to have my dinner there.
I took my parents and siblings in the hope of good food. After reaching there, I found the restaurant occupies a small room, and the rest spaces are for waiting.
On the other hand, when I asked the manager to allot us a table once it was free, he said, "Okay!" We waited there for 20 minutes, and newcomers were invited to the free tables.
When I tried to call the staff or manager, they just ignored me, like we were invisible to them. I don’t know what was wrong with the restaurant staff. They were rude to their customers with no ethics.

So, we stayed at the Yellow Hotel near Jagannath Temple and tried all the street foods, of which a few were worth trying.

It was a fruit-flavored kulfi extracted from a large roll of ice cream. It tasted unique with a sweet and sour flavor.
